Another post devoid of RL stuff... Not sure why I'm so reluctant to write things down right now, but. Regardless. I just want to say that I've started three vidding projects, and at the moment, I'm excited about them. One is Sherlock Holmes with Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" (I don't know, ok, I really don't know, but I just wanted to and I'm sorry lol) and the other two are for The Phantom of the Opera.

Came out of nowhere, right? I haven't given any thought to Phantom in years. Except that I've always kind of wanted to use the song "Bright Eyes" by Blind Guardian for it. And right now I'm really in love with the song "Blinding" by Florence and the Machine and it would be perfect for Christine (and for Phantom as a whole in a meta way). or at least, it'd be nice to imagine that she eventually has an epiphany like the one which the song describes. I'm sort of toying with the idea of using some other source for an AU, more grownup Christine (could Irene pass, do you think? eh?), but I don't think I could really pull off making them look like they go together. Anyway -- the "Blinding" one is the most recent project (in fact, I haven't really started it -- it's just a bunny) so it'll be a while in coming, probably, but... Yeah, could be cool.

Working on these two at the same time has me wishing for some Holmes/Phantom crossover stuff (fics, vids, whatever). Does anyone know of any? I mean, I know it's a pretty random request, but on the off chance...

I guess that's it. I hope everyone's doing well.

Ah Florence rules!!!

Hope you are okay, I know this is no way related to your post but I've got some good vid ideas but don't know what software you use to do it. As you know I love love love your House/Stacy one so wondered if you could recommend one to use?

Ah, that's fantastic that you're thinking of making some vids! I wish I could offer some actual suggestions, but I've never really developed much knowledge/skill regarding the technical side of vidding... which is a big part of it, I think, but oh well. I myself still just use Windows Movie Maker. It's pretty solid for a free, easy-to-use program. The special effects and layering are pretty limited, is all. I'd probably go for WMM 6 because it's the best and newest one that still has a timeline. There's also the actual newest version, Windows Live Movie Maker, which is pretty good and seems to run more smoothly and produce higher quality images (or maybe that's just my computer?) but is kind of frustrating because they ditched the timeline on that version, so you're doing more guesswork regarding how long each clip lasts and how long transitions last. They also got rid of some other things for no reason, it seems, like being able to slow down or speed up clips. You can download a beta version of WLMM but I found it to freeze up too much -- I couldn't get a clear playback as I was editing -- so I just stuck with the current WLMM. It's ok. Do you use Windows even? I hear there's a pretty good, free program for Linux, if you use that -- I can try to find that, if you want. And then of course, there's Vegas and Premiere, which seem to be pretty phenomenal, if difficult to figure out at first. And expensive.

What are you vid ideas? (I promise I won't steal.)

Wow that's a lot of good information! I do have Windows so I think I'm going to try Movie Maker first, as it's free, and I have Windows so kinda makes sense. They weren't amazing ideas, I just wanted to try them out as they looked good in my head (do you know what I mean)

It would be a couple for Grey's Anatomy, (are you into that?) one focusing on Mark/Addison (the song would be FilthyGorgeous by the Scissor Sisters, and another one focusing on Derek/Addison with the music "Set the fire to the third bar" by that chap from Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright. I also want to do a House one, but I don't want it to be particulary sad, more about his ummmm....quirks shall we say. So they turn out to be pants but it never hurts to try new things!

Cool, cool. No, I've never really watched Grey's Anatomy, I'm afraid. I know that song though -- I started an Aragorn/Arwen vid to it a long time ago and have never finished. Oh, well. I would of course be really excited for a fun House vid. And the others too. Vidding is really great fun, if occasionally frustrating.

Might be "pants" -- I've never heard that. lol I like it.

I'm very much looking forward to having a go, I downloaded WMM earlier so will be trying it soon. Any tips? You've never heard might be "pants?" must be an english thing though our "pants" means underwear (hence using it when things might be bad!)
