Movie: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
Song: Parting of the Sensory
Band: Modest Mouse
Notes: A million thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elynittria for sending me the Ros & Guil DVD. She is MADE OF AWESOME. I hope you enjoy the video. As always with fanvids, the music might not be to everyone's taste. Also, it's a pretty fricking long song. But, you know, I thought it fit. :) So... Enjoy!

Or watch it here at YouTube.

Lovely video! Oh... that reminds me I so need to finish mine... *headdesk* Ros & Guil is a tough movie to vid. So kudos to you! It's a tough movie done to a tough song (and kind of a long one too!). Great job! :)

Thanks! Means a lot coming from you! And yeah, it is a tough movie to vid, I think. Good luck with yours! I look forward to seeing it.

I loved it, thanks for making it. It reminded me of why I like the film so much. I think you captured their innocence and expressiveness.

Thanks. Glad that came across (although it's hard not to capture that just by showing some of Tim Roth and Gary Oldman -- they were great in those roles).

That was very cool - it's weird, but I now associate Modest Mouse with fanvids, since that's the only time I've ever heard their songs, LOL. I find them kind of odd, but it was compelling and appropriate, especially the end section. It also made me think I really should watch R+G again sometime :)

Hee, what other fanvids have you seen with them? The first one that comes to mind is that House/Wilson one by Shallott to "Bukowski." One of my favorite vids ever -- I have it on my computer. lol

lol, Steph you are really cranking these out.

This is awesome. I really love the song. Although, overall, the effect is kind of creepy (haunting?) which is what I assume you were going for.

lol I know. I should probably take a bit of a break from it and try and do some schoolwork... lol

And thanks. I thought the song fit because the tone is kind of a weird mix of creepy/haunting/unnerving along with sort of silly/ironic, and with some genuine pathos too; I think you could say the same for the play. Plus, the song is cool because it goes from plodding to frantic, and I think there's some of both for Ros&Guil too. Shrug.

Wow! That was incredible! I'd never heard that song before (like [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl, I only know Modest Mouse through vids), but it fits the movie perfectly with its themes of losing and death.

Now I want to go watch the movie (and your vid) again!

Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it. It's an odd song but I like it a lot, and I couldn't help thinking how it could fit with R&G -- the clumsy, helplessness of man, and the inevitability of death, and just the general irrationality (or unfairness, you could say) of the universe. Oh, existentialism... lol So, yeah. :)

Really interesting (and well done!) vid! I've never seen the movie, but Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is my favorite play.

Thanks! I love the play so much. The movie is good, but the play is much better, in my opinion. Some of it just doesn't translate well to screen and it goes kind of slow. I still enjoyed it though. Thanks for watching my video!

Ah! I'm late with a reply, I haven't checked the group for updates for a while.... That was wonderful!! I'm so glad someone has finally made an excellent RosnGuil video. They so deserve it and I've never been able to find one, really, anywhere. Thank you, thank you, it was very enjoyable and well edited!!
